Get More Miles Per Gallon to Earn More Bonus Cash
Make the top 10% while averaging 100,000 miles a year and you can earn the equivalent of an additional $0.032/mile, just for being more fuel efficient and accident free!
Here’s how to successfully complete your PAM MISSION, so you can earn your cash and prize rewards.
Use cruise control in top gear whenever possible. Using cruise will minimize RPM fluctuations and can save as much as 1 MPG.
Every driver needs to idle the truck on occasion. But the more your engine is running without being in motion, the worse your MPG. For each hour that you sit idling, you are losing 1% in fuel efficiency. Make it a habit to shut off the truck every time you set the brakes. Restart as needed.
For each 1 MPH you drive over 55 MPH you will see a 0.1 decrease in your MPG. Your truck has a top speed of 64 MPH. However, the most successful MISSION MPG PAM drivers maintain a top speed of 62 MPH. Reduce your speed whenever practical.
Rapid acceleration and aggressive breaking can wreak havoc on your MPG. Avoid this by implementing smart breaking techniques to help minimize complete, unwarranted stops. These techniques should always be used in precarious weather and traffic conditions to maintain optimal safety and MPG.
Inflation & Inspection:
Check your tire pressures daily with a tire gauge. Kicking the tires is not an appropriate method to check your tire pressure. Maintaining steers at 110 lbs and drive tires at 100 lbs will significantly reduce rolling resistance. Every 10 PSI below this results in 0.05 MPG loss. Check your fluid levels daily and top them off as needed for peak truck efficiency.
On-time Maintenance: Make sure you get your preventive maintenance services done on time. Proper maintenance will ensure your truck is running at peak efficiency. Communicate with your Driver Manager to schedule service to prevent unnecessary down time.
No Effort = No Bonus:
If you are ready to apply these best practices to your driving routine, you can earn up to $3,200 annually through the MISSION MPG Fuel and Safety Bonus program. You can also win some great prizes, so what are you waiting for? Drive, save, and win!
